Chhota sa ghar hoga, by Antara Nanda Mondal

Chhota sa ghar hoga baadlon ki chhanv me

Asha deewani mann mein bansuri bajaye

The ultimate dream of every middle class guy. You want get your sis and mom the best comforts possible. You aspire, dream, hope and try to reach those dreams.

Chandi ki kursi pe baithe meri chhoti behna
sone ke sinhasan pe baithe meri pyari ma

Mera kya main pada rahunga ammi ji ke paanv mein (well, peaceful waters flow here, the most comforting place on earth)

And then you also wish your own life to take on some new hues. Wishing Mom would say, son, time to get married!

And of course, you can’t jump up and say yes, yes! You got to pretend you are in no hurry and count the floor tiles and the fan’s blades, avoiding her gaze. But really, crackers are bursting within your heart already!

Kahegi Ma dulhan la Beta, ghar suna suna hai
Mann mein jhum kahunga main
Ma itni jaldi kya hai

And the day every son dreams of – when you would make your parents feel proud of you.

Gali gali me tere rajdulare ki charcha hai 🙂 Name and fame and dreams

Kishore Kumar, the ultimate boy next door, excels in this lovely number. Who else but Shailendra can paint such simple dreams in amazing imagery! And how about using katoris to simulate a jaltarang… anything makes music when Salil Da is at the helm.

Later, this tune became a very popular children’s song sung by the little Antara Chowdhury – Ek je chhilo raja… but aah, that’s a different story!
